Introduction to Korean Traditional Music of Korean Traditional Music
The Korean traditional music or Korean traditional music is divided into two types: folk music and court music.
Korean court music is the music played for court royalty and nobles in the Korean Peninsula in ancient times, including yaegak, hyeonggak and tanggak. Yagaku was imported from China; Gyongaku is the local music of the Korean Peninsula; Tangaku was first introduced by Silla from the court of the Tang Dynasty, and later blended with the local music of the Korean Peninsula. The Jongmyo Ritual Music was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity along with the Jongmyo Ritual as the court music of the Joseon Dynasty.
