According to the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on Intangible Cultural Heritage, intangible cultural heritage refers to various traditional cultural expressions handed down from generation to generation by people of all ethnic groups and regarded as part of their cultural heritage, as well as articles and places related to traditional cultural expressions.
At present, with the economic globalization and social modernization, the living environment in chinese heritage is getting worse and worse, and the protection status is worrying. In order to further strengthen the protection of China's cultural heritage, inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, and promote the construction of advanced socialist culture, the State Council has decided to designate the second Saturday of June as "Cultural Heritage Day" in China every year from 2006.
On February 23rd, Minister of Culture Luo Shugang gave a report on cultural heritage work to the State Council at the 31st session of the 12th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC). The report shows that at present, the Grand Canal, Silk Road and other projects have been included in the World Heritage List, and the total number of world heritage sites in China has reached 52, ranking second in the world.
Abacus calculation, 24 solar terms, acupuncture and moxibustion of traditional Chinese medicine have all been selected into the representative list of human intangible cultural heritage, and the total number of related lists of intangible cultural heritage in China has reached 39, ranking first in the world. Over the past five years, more than 40,000 movable cultural relics have been restored and the preventive protection project of museum collections 1000 has been completed. Since 20 13, the customs has seized more than 2000 pieces of illegal cultural relics 12000.
