What is GPT disk and why do you need GPT?

Gpt is a new hard disk partition table format. The traditional partition table format is mbr, and gpt partition table has more advantages than mbr. Due to the inherent deficiency of mbr, there is a maximum hard disk capacity identification limit of 2. 1tb. Therefore, when installing an operating system on a hard disk with a size of more than 3tb, you cannot use the mbr partition table, but you must use the gpt partition table, and the same hard disk can only use one partition table format, and mbr and 0tb cannot be used at the same time.

So the so-called gpt disk is a hard disk that uses gpt partition table format. If a hard disk is marked as a gpt disk, you should immediately think that it should be a large-capacity hard disk with a capacity of more than 2.2tb, and if you want to install an operating system on it, you can only use uefi to install and start it. If a hard disk is labeled as a gpt disk, but its capacity is less than 2.2tb, then you should immediately think that this is just fooling people, because the partition table can install the operating system on a hard disk with a size less than 2.2tb without gpt at all, and the traditional mbr format is fine.
