Who are the eight masters of the house

The Eight Jushi are: Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Ouyang Xiu, Su Shi, Su Xun, Su Zhe, Wang Anshi, Zeng Gong.

1, Han Yu

Han Yu was a Tang Dynasty literati, thinker, philosopher, born in 768 and died in 824, a native of Hengyang, Henan Province (present-day Mengzhou City, Henan Province). He advocated the Ancient Literature Movement of the Tang Dynasty, which favored the prose tradition of the pre-Qin and Han dynasties, and opposed the parallelism of neat and tidy writing.

2. Liu Zongyuan

Liu Zongyuan, a Tang Dynasty literati, philosopher, essayist and thinker, born in 773 and died in 819, was a native of Hedong (present-day Yuncheng, Shanxi Province). He also followed the ancient literary movement, and his prose was very polemical and sharply written.

3. Ouyang Xiu

Ouyang Xiu, a politician and writer of the Northern Song Dynasty, was born in Mianzhou (present-day Mianyang City, Sichuan Province) in 1007, and died in 1072, a native of Yongfeng, Jizhou (present-day Yongfeng County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province). He led the Poetry and Literature Renovation Movement of the Northern Song Dynasty, and inherited and developed Han Yu's theory of ancient literature.

4. Su Shi

Su Shi, a writer, calligrapher, gourmet and painter of the Northern Song Dynasty, was born in 1037 and died in 1101, a native of Meishan, Meizhou (present-day Meishan City, Sichuan Province). He was a leader of the literary scene in the mid-North Song Dynasty, and was highly accomplished in poetry, lyrics, prose, calligraphy and painting.

5. Su Xun

Su Xun, a literary scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty and the father of Su Shi, was born in 1009 and died in 1066, a native of Meishan, Meizhou (present-day Meishan City, Sichuan Province). He was good at writing prose, especially political essays, and his essays were well argued, with strong arguments, as well as sharp and persuasive language.

6. Su Zhe

Su Zhe, a literati of the Northern Song Dynasty and the younger brother of Su Shi, was born in 1039 and died in 1112, he was a native of Meishan, Meizhou (present-day Meishan City, Sichuan Province). He was known for his prose and specialized in political and historical essays.

7. Wang Anshi

Wang Anshi, a Northern Song statesman, writer, thinker and reformer, born in 1021 and died in 1086, was a native of Linchuan, Fuzhou (present-day Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province). His outstanding achievement in literature was that he emphasized the role of literature in serving the society, stressed the realistic function and social effect of articles, and advocated the unity of literature and Taoism.

8. Zeng Gong

Zeng Gong, a literati, historian and politician of the Northern Song Dynasty, was born in 1019 and died in 1083, a native of Nanfeng, Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province. He was an active participant in the Poetry and Literature Renovation Movement of the Northern Song Dynasty, advocating the combination of literature and Taoism, and writing to clarify Taoism, with a style of ancient elegance, plainness, and harmony.
