When is the National Day of Greece
1/1
Greece's first national day is celebrated on March 25th, which is also known as "Independence Day". On March 25, 1821, an armed uprising against Turkish rule first broke out in the Peloponnese. Every year the Greeks hold a military parade in Constitution Square in the center of Athens to commemorate this day in 1821, when a war of independence broke out against the Turkish invading forces and Greece's independence was declared.
Greece's second national holiday is October 28 every year. Because in 1940, the Italian army attacked the Greek navy, on October 28 of the same year, Mussolini issued an ultimatum to Greece, asking Greece to allow the Italian army to enter Greece, the then Prime Minister of Greece bravely rejected Mussolini with "OXI (no)", the Greek army resisted and repelled the Italian army, so October 28 became the second legal national holiday of Greece. October 28th became the second legal national day of Greece.
