Who invented the toilet (sitting)?
The first practical toilet was first invented by John Harrington, an English nobleman.
Brief history of development:
In 1596, John Harrington, an English aristocrat, invented the first practical toilet - a wooden seat with a water tank and flush valve.
In 1778, English inventor Joseph Blamey improved the design of the flush toilet, using such things as a three-ball valve to control the flow of water in the tank, and U-shaped bends.
The toilet began to improve dramatically in the 19th century, when the British government enacted a law requiring every house to have a proper sewage disposal system.
In 1861, a British plumber, Thomas Klapper, invented a set of advanced water-saving pipes. Clapper invented an advanced water-saving flushing system, and only then did waste discharge begin to enter a period of modernization.
Thomas Tudwigford patented the first all-ceramic toilet in Britain in 1885, and dozens of patents for improvements were granted every year thereafter.
In 1914, the first ceramic toilet in China was manufactured by the British-owned Qixin Ceramics Factory (the predecessor of Tangshan Ceramics Factory) in Tangshan.
In the 1860s, flush toilets began to flourish in Europe and the United States, and later spread to Japan, Korea and other Asian countries.
In the early 80's, it was only seen in the hotels in Beijing, but now it is used even in the toilets in Beijing.
