Do legal holidays include weekends?
The State Council issued the "National Holidays and Remembrance Days". There are three types of statutory holidays in China:
The first is a holiday for all citizens.
Second, some citizens have holidays and anniversaries, including Women's Day (women have a half-day holiday on March 8), Youth Day (1 young people over 4 years old have a half-day holiday on May 4), Children's Day (1 children under 3 years old have a holiday in June 1 day1) and China People's Liberation Army Memorial Day (August/kloc-0).
Third, the local people's governments in areas where ethnic minorities live in concentrated communities determine the date of festivals according to the habits of ethnic minorities. At the same time, the measures also stipulate that citizens should make up their holidays on working days if they fall on Saturdays and Sundays. If some citizens have a holiday on Saturday and Sunday, they will not be compensated.
To sum up, Saturday and Sunday are not legal holidays in China, so weekends are not legal holidays.
