What race are white Americans?

An Anglo or Irish white person in the United States belongs to the Germanic part of the white race, and a white American is an American who is considered or calls himself or herself white.

The Germans (Latin: Germani; German: Germanen), who were known to the Romans as the three great barbarians of Europe during the Roman Empire, along with the Celts and the Slavs, are also one of the ethnic groups represented by present-day Europeans.

Population of the United States

According to the U.S. Census 2020, non-Latino whites comprise 57.8%, Latinos 18.7%, African Americans 12.4%, Asians 6%, Indians and Alaskan Natives 1.1%, and Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islanders 0.2% ( There is overlap in the above percentages).

Approximately 46.5% of the population is Christian, 20.8% Catholic, 1.9% Jewish, 0.9% Islamic, 0.7% Buddhist, 0.5% Eastern Orthodox, 1.2% other, and 22.8% no religion (with a small percentage of the population being double counted as being multi-religious).
