People in China must know which five Confucian Classics are.

The 2007 Confucius Sacrifice Ceremony was held this morning in Qufu, Confucius' hometown, and the collection results of "The Five Classics of the Analects of Confucius that China people must know" were also announced.

In order to welcome the 29th Summer Olympic Games held in Beijing in 2008, fully embody the concept and spirit of humanistic Olympics, and organically combine China's ancient traditional culture with the participation of the whole people in the Olympic Games, the Organizing Committee of the International Confucius Culture Festival, the International Confucian Association and CCTV International, the cooperation website of the Beijing Olympic Games, jointly launched the collection activity of "The Five Classics of the Analects of Confucius that China people must know", and invited 20 famous Confucian experts at home and abroad 10 to select them.

After nearly three months of online voting, five classic sentences that best embody the essence of Confucius' thought were finally selected and recommended to BOCOG as the welcome language for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, so as to embody the concept of humanistic Olympics in the Beijing Olympic Games and express the warm welcome of people with ancient civilizations and countries of etiquette to friends from all over the world.
