Introduction and detailed information of Fengtai District
Historical evolution During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the Fengtai area belonged to the suburbs of Jicheng, the ancient Beijing.
This is Fengtai District. The land of the Western Zhou Dynasty belonged to the Ji State, and the land of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period belonged to the Yan State.
During the Qin Dynasty, Jixian County was established, and the administrative seat of Yinxiang City was in the Nanbao area of ??Fengtai Town today.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Yinxiang County was established, and the county seat was in the south of today's Fengtai Town. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Qianxian County was established.
In the second year of Jianzhong of Tang Dynasty (781), the western boundary of Ji County was analyzed as Youdu County.
The central part of today's Fengtai District (Lugouqiao Township and Huaxiang Township) belonged to Youdu County at that time; the eastern part (Nanyuan Township) belonged to Ji County.
In the first year of Liao Huitong (938), Ji County was changed to Jibei County. The north of Dahongmen in Kainan Township belonged to Beitai. In the first year of Beitai (1012), Youdu and Jibei were changed to Wanping and Xijin.
In the first year of Jin Zhenyuan, Jin was renamed Daxing.
The Nanyuan Township area east of You'anmen now belongs to Daxing County, the south of Beigong Village in the west belongs to Liangxiang County, and most of the middle area belongs to Wanping County.
In the Ming Dynasty, Nanyuan Township to the east of You'anmen now belonged to Daxing County, the northern part of Wangzuo Township in the west and the Dahuichang area belonged to Fangshan County, and the south of Wangzhuang-Qai Village belonged to Liangxiang County.
In the late Qing Dynasty, the east of Fengtai Town and the north of Dahongmen were classified as urban areas.
In June 1928, the eastern part of Fengtai District belonged to the southern suburbs, and the central and western parts belonged to Wanping County, Fangshan County and Liangxiang County.
In June 1950, with the approval of the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the Central People's Government Administration Council, the 18th District of Beijing (Changxindian) was merged into the 15th District.
In August of the same year, the Beijing Municipal People's Government decided to connect the names of suburbs with the urban areas. The original 14th District (Nanyuan) was changed to the 11th District, and the 15th District (Fengtai) was changed to the 12th District.
In 1952, Wanping County was abolished and Fengtai District, Nanyuan District and Shijingshan District were established, under the jurisdiction of Beijing City.
In 1958, most of Nanyuan District and Shijingshan District were merged into Fengtai District.
In 1963, Shijingshan District was separated from Fengtai District and the Shijingshan Office was established.
It was built as Shijingshan District in 1967.
Fengtai District People's Government is stationed in Fengtai Town.
At the end of 1990, the distance between the westernmost point of the district, Ma'anshan (116°4'E) and the easternmost point, Dongsidaokou Village (116°28'E), was 35 kilometers apart; the southernmost point was the southern boundary of He Zhaoyun Village (39°46N).

Geographical environment Location and realm Fengtai District is located in the northern part of the North China Plain (40° north latitude), backed by mountains in the northwest and 150 kilometers away from the Bohai Sea in the southeast.
Fengtai District is located in the southwest of Beijing, bordering Chaoyang District to the east, Daxing District to the south, Fangshan District and Mentougou District to the west, and Chongwen, Xuanwu, Haidian and Shijingshan District to the north, with a total area of ??305 square kilometers, including 225 square kilometers of plain area.

Geomorphic Features: The terrain of Fengtai District is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with a gradient descent. The west is mountainous and the east is plain. The area north of the Liangshui River in the east borders the urban area, with an altitude of 40 meters and belongs to the high plain of the alluvial fan of the ancient Yongding River, covering an area of ??1,400 hectares.
Low plain: Distributed east of the Yongding River, covering an area of ??15,700 hectares. The altitude drops from 60 meters to the southeast to 35 meters, with an average slope drop of 1%.
Climate: In winter, affected by the high-latitude inland monsoon, it is cold and dry; in summer, affected by the ocean monsoon, it is hot and rainy. It is a typical warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate.
Hydrology The Yongding River flows from Shijingshan through this district and into Daxing District from north to south. The approximately 15-kilometer-long river section divides Fengtai District into east and west parts.
