Introduction of Gaecheonjeol
Gaecheonjeol, also known as the Foundation Day of the Nation, is celebrated on October 3 every year as a public holiday in South and North Korea. "Gaecheonjeol, which commemorates Dan-gun, the legendary founder of the Korean nation, who founded the legendary ancient Joseon in 2333 B.C., was originally set on the third day of the tenth month of the lunar calendar, but in 1949, it was changed to the third day of the tenth month of the solar calendar. On the day of Gaeiljeon, various grand celebrations are held by the government and civil religious organizations, while the festival in the capital Seoul area is mainly held at Sajikdan (Sajikdan).
