The school conscientiously implements the Party's educational policy, strengthens internal management on the basis of inheriting tradition, takes "first-class team, first-class quality, first-class school spirit, first-class management, first-class facilities and first-class environment" as the goal, follows the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented, comprehensively educating people, building dreams and creating excellence" and takes "honesty, learning, cooperation and innovation" as the school motto. The school has been awarded the honorary titles of National Advanced Unit for Children's Work, National Advanced Collective for Traditional Sports Schools, National Modern Educational Technology Experimental School, National Foreign Language Experimental School, National Red Flag Brigade, Hunan Green School, Hunan Advanced Collective for Education, Hunan Traditional Athletics School and Changsha Demonstration School. At the same time, it is also the first primary school in Hunan Province to obtain the qualification certificate of hiring foreign teachers and experts. In the past three years, more than 200 school teachers have won the first and second prizes in the national teaching and research competition.

Since the establishment of the school, we have worked hard to create superior conditions for running a school. Now the campus environment is beautiful and the facilities are first-class. Teaching buildings, complex buildings, science and technology museums, gymnasiums and other buildings are scattered in the green grass, which makes people feel like they are in a spring garden. The school has a high-standard multifunctional lecture hall with modern education, an indoor swimming pool, an indoor basketball court and a 200m circular plastic track, as well as Xinwei TV station, red scarf weather station, computer room, fitness room, English activity room, art activity room, science interaction room and high-standard instrument room. The library and the archives meet the provincial first-class and second-class standards respectively. In 2005, the school invested nearly 500,000 yuan to update all classroom audio-visual equipment to large-screen projection multimedia equipment. In August, 2000, in order to meet the needs of society, the school set up a student boarding department. At present, there are 7 boarding classes in the school, which has become a compound school combining day study and boarding.
