Some of the earliest star maps in China

Our country's earliest two neatly painted stone astrological images were unearthed in recent years from the tombs of King Qian Yuanguan (guàguan) of Wuyue and his second concubine Wu Hanyue during the Five Dynasties period (907-960) in Hangzhou.

These two stone carvings of astrology are engraved with some of the stars such as the Twenty-Eight Constellations and the Gongjixing. Each stone carving has about 180 stars. The positions of these stars are quite accurate, and the depiction of the stars is relatively realistic. They are a good way to explore the changes in traditional astrology.
