The language characteristics of cross talk are
1, easy to understand and catchy.
Crosstalk is for the audience, so the language must be easy to understand and catchy.
"catchy" means that language can express meaning fluently; "Pleasant" means that people can understand it as soon as they listen.
This requires that the language of crosstalk must be spoken language used in people's daily life. Language can be divided into "oral language" and "written language". Most of the poems, essays and novels for people to read use written language, so that people can appreciate the beauty of the use of words and enjoy a kind of literary beauty. But cross talk is for people. No matter stand-up or cross talk, if the performer seems to be reading an article, the audience will definitely not like it. Only by speaking some familiar spoken English, such as chatting, can we have a catchy and humorous effect.
Look, a passage in the cross talk "Night Walk":
A ("I" narrator) put on your shoes and get on the bus? Hey, there are still eight people standing there.
Oh! There are eight people at the bus stop! Then we can go on in order.
A ranked ninth?
B yes.
A: I chased these shoes for nothing?
B Who told you to chase shoes?
Not a row can rank ninth.
B So where are you?
The first one.
Did the family agree?
A must explain to him.
How do you explain b?
A "Comrade, are you waiting for the bus here?"
b!
A: "Oh, you are very lucky. First of all, the bus is coming. You ... go first. "
What's the matter?
"Because you come early. Actually, I'm not too late. Not that I'm just chasing shoes. The bus is coming, you should let me be the first. "
This is too much.
A When I finished, the man gave me a smile: Hey! Hey hey!
B agree?
A (waiting for the bus, impatient) "Go behind!"
B, let's go to the queue!
The language in this paragraph sounds like chatting. It is a familiar spoken language, which is easy to understand, fluent and concise, and has a strong flavor of life. Of course, the use of spoken language in cross talk is not handy, but artistically processed.
In addition, in order to make the language of cross talk easy to understand, we must speak Mandarin. Crosstalk originated in Beijing and belongs to the local folk art in Beijing, so it is even more interesting to add a little local flavor of Beijing (such as "Hua Er Yin") on the basis of Putonghua.
For example, a paragraph in the stand-up comedy Wax Money:
..... After the old man died, my wife was miserable! Because the old lady can't let go, and the son is in charge, which son is in charge? Everyone must be responsible. Sister-in-law quarrels every day and the fire in the kitchen is always on. Grandpa wants to eat jiaozi, Sir Zhong wants to eat rice, and Third Grandpa wants to eat stuffing cakes. Grandma clamored for steamed bread, sat in the house and scolded the children after dinner, but no children scolded the cat. These three boys are like enemies. Their eyes went red as soon as they met. I couldn't live together several times, so I had to split up.
On the day of parting, all relatives and friends were invited to have a farewell dinner, and the house was divided into several rooms. The deposits in the bank are divided equally, the furnishings in the house and the furniture in the kitchen. Brother made a mistake, worse than the enemy. The chopsticks for eating left a tendon, which was divided into three sections and divided into three parts. No one can buy a penny with it. Even the chickens, ducks, cats and dogs are divided, but no one cares about this mother.
This is a stand-up comedy performed by an old gentleman in Liu Baorui. It has a strong Beijing flavor, vivid language image, catchy words and easy to understand.
2. Concise, lively, short and pithy
Crosstalk language should not only be like the language in life, but also undergo artistic processing and refining to make it concise, short and concise.
We know that spoken English is complicated, some are vulgar, and some are verbose. It must be refined and processed in cross talk. Only by refining can we be concise and short. Only by being concise, short and pithy, can we achieve the artistic effect of "easy to say and good to hear".
Mr. Hou is known as a master of language. He was a visiting professor in the Chinese Department of Peking University. He is very insightful in the study of cross talk language. Please see his correction of procrastination, repetition and tedious problems in several crosstalk languages:
Example 1:
"There must be no special circumstances and exceptions!" -a sentence in the cross talk "Hui Fan".
"One day, I came back from a business trip outside." -a sentence in the cross talk "Buy a Monkey".
Mr. Hou thinks that "special circumstances" and "exceptions" in the first sentence have the same meaning and should be deleted. The "business trip" in the second sentence means going outside, which is wordy and should be changed to "one day, I didn't come back until I was on a business trip."
Example 2:
"Don't be too poor! This is not good! It's glorious! " -a sentence in the comic dialogue "Flying Oil Pan".
Mr. Hou Lao thinks that the above three phrases are used to show that the comedian disagrees with what the comedian described, but these three phrases are repeated with each other, using "This is not good!" One word is enough.
Example 3:
"I must know that it dare not hit people. Turning around, it is not far from me. Because I practiced martial arts when I was a child, my waist and legs were flexible, and a swallow came at me with a bow. Hey! Hey! Hey! Finally ... "—— A sentence in the cross talk" Night Tour ".
Mr. Hou Lao thinks: this paragraph is used to describe a very tense scene. The beep of the car has arrived, so at this urgent moment, it is too late to "look back, it is not far from me!" " Moreover, because of the long description of "I practiced martial arts when I was a child" and "I came to a swallow and copied water three times", it would affect the tense environment at that time, and it also seemed that the language was cumbersome and powerless. He changed it to "I must know that it didn't dare to hit me, so I twisted my waist with my flexible waist and legs, so ..."
From the above examples corrected by Mr. Hou Lao, we can see that the shorter the language of cross talk, the simpler the better. All these require the creators and performers of crosstalk to refine and process the spoken language of the people repeatedly.
3. Vivid images and rich colors
Crosstalk is based on "talking", supplemented by performance, which requires people to feel immersive and true: talking about dragons and dragons and talking about phoenix dances feels like people who hear their voices and see them. To achieve this effect, the language of cross talk should be colorful and vivid.
(1) is good at grasping the distinctive personality of things and expressing it concretely with vivid language images; For example, a paragraph in the stand-up comic dialogue "Ode to a Horse":
"Outside the gate, someone brought a horse. When you look at this horse, it is eight feet from beginning to end, with thin hooves and big hooves and bamboo stick ears. It is purple all over, but there is a piece of white hair on its forehead. The name of this horse is Ding Yu Huazi. "
Hearing this, people seem to really see a purple horse.
(2) Use some onomatopoeic words to describe the activities and forms of the scenery in detail. For example, at the end of a night trip:
First, come down? He didn't see me, so he turned and gave a squeak, but he couldn't find me anymore.
Are you at home?
I fell into a ditch!
In the above example, the onomatopoeic word "Liu Zhi" clearly makes people aware of the occurrence of an action, so it plays an important role in this article. The audience thought he was running fast, but he shook the "bag" before he knew he had fallen into the sewer! This has an unexpected and interesting effect.
(3) Adjectives commonly used in crosstalk language overlap. For example, spicy, delicious, red, green and black. This kind of reduplicative adjective can describe some external characteristics of things concretely and vividly, making the language more appealing. For example, in the cross talk Bodyguard, the overlapping adjective "Huang Chengcheng" is used to create "baggage":
Later, senior officials asked us to check the darts in the back. As soon as I saw it, no one dared to protect it. I can't afford to lose it! Such a big guy, Huang Chengcheng, dozens. ...
B gold ingot?
Jialaowogua
"You can't afford to lose it!" This sentence covers a wide range. The overlapping adjective "Huang Chengcheng" specifically stipulates that this is the external image feature of valuables, which makes people realize that this precious thing must be a gold ingot, but when the "baby" shakes, it is a worthless old melon. This, like the onomatopoeia word "Liu Zhi" mentioned earlier, has an "unexpected" strong effect, which makes people smile after listening.
(4) Humorous, concise and vivid language effects can also be achieved by using a large number of oral and expressive idioms, proverbs and post-song phrases.
For example, a paragraph in the stand-up comedy Wax Money:
The next day, I got up in the morning to make tea. As soon as the old lady sat down, my daughter-in-law lit a cigarette and my son stood aside. "You sit down!" "Yes, I can't sit, although you love me, relatives and friends come not good-looking. There is one more thing to discuss with you. I won't say it if you don't like it. " "What is it?" "You let me talk, and I'll tell you!" "Do you want me to show my face?"? Do you want me to show my eyes? " "What is this! Ten fingers, which one hurts, I want you all to show your faces! " "appearance? It is not easy to show off! Live together, ignore, don't spill soup, don't show. This kind of separation, the Eight Immortals crossed the ocean and showed their magical powers, which had to be scraped through their teeth. You only live here for ten days a month, so I can make you something delicious to eat. Don't give it to the children. Don't worry about us eating stick noodles, even if we eat half a meal. "
In the above-mentioned dialogue, the sentences such as "ten fingers, biting any one hurts", "no soup, no dew" and "Eight Immortals crossing the sea, each showing his abilities" are commonly used oral idioms and famous sentences, which are vivid and catchy to use and are very conducive to depicting characters' personalities.
Another example is a passage in children's cross talk "Boiled Eggs":
A I just learned to cut hair this time, and I met a beard-
What does b mean?
One question (shaving)!
B let me say this is the waiter who was fired from the teahouse-
What does A say?
B, which pot does not open, which pot!
A told me that this is the ear of the earth god-
What does b mean?
Muddy!
Are we kidding?
In this passage, Party A and Party B made three two-part allegorical sayings, which not only expressed the narrative content, but also gave people a sense of humor.
Because the language of cross talk has some of the above characteristics, it is humorous, leaving a deep impression and unforgettable for a long time. Some of them are still used in people's lives today. For example, the comic dialogue "Buy a Monkey" created in 1950s, the satirized hero is called "careless" because he is usually careless and laughing. After this crosstalk performance, it had a great influence. Until today, anyone who treats his work carelessly and irresponsibly will be called "Ma Daha". It can be seen that the charm of crosstalk language is so great!
