1. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Japan was divided into North and South Dynasties. In order to raise money, the lords in the southwest often send warriors to plunder the coastal areas of China. After the collapse of the Southern Dynasties, some unwilling warriors went to sea as pirates and organized pirates along the coast of China. Piracy has become a great disaster for people in the coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian.

2. From the thirty-fourth year of Jiajing, the Japanese pirates plundered and burned all the way to Fujian, and Funing, Liujiang and Fuan suffered disasters one after another. In April of the forty-first year of Jiajing, a large group of pirates attacked Changshou and Jiangtian Fuqing. Soldiers and civilians from all over Fujian fought back, but in the end they couldn't beat the wild Japanese ronin, causing countless casualties. So the governor of Fujian asked the court for help, and the court ordered Zhejiang to reinforce nearby. Qi Jiguang, Governor of Zhejiang Province, led more than 6,000 people from Zhejiang to Fujian.

Among these 6,000 soldiers, there was a soldier named Yuan in Shaxian who opened an ancestral sesame seed cake, chopped all kinds of delicacies into stuffing, tied them around the soldiers' necks, and beat them while eating, commonly known as "light cakes". In August of the same year, Qi Jiguang led a fierce battle with the enemy in Hengfuning, and all the Qigujun fought heroically, contributing to the annihilation of the enemy. After three hours of fighting, we destroyed the enemy, beheaded more than 2,600 people, recaptured more than 3,700 people and fought a decisive battle.

Later, in order to commemorate this anti-Japanese soldier, Shaxian people gradually developed many series and categories of famous Shaxian original snacks, such as flat meat (chaos), taro jiaozi, bean jelly, tofu balls, taro cakes, fairy grass and so on. On the basis of the original "light cake", it is combined with the unique high-quality food in Shaxian County, which has become the favorite and most respected local food of local residents.

Shaxian snack has a long history, which originated from the Chinese food culture in the Yellow River valley in Xia, Shang, Zhou, Jin and Song Dynasties. It has a strong historical and cultural foundation among the people, especially famous for its variety, unique flavor and good economic benefits.
