Why is Fuzhou the provincial capital?
Fuzhou merges the Minjiang River into the sea. In ancient times without modern traffic conditions, this geographical advantage was an important reason why Fuzhou became the provincial capital.
After the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian (Quanzhou, as a port city, declined gradually because of the strict maritime ban policy of the Ming Dynasty) was determined. Fuzhou focuses on internal development and belongs to the economic center of northern Fujian. In this way, Fuzhou, as the capital of Fujian, has a long historical tradition.
The provincial capital city is the symbol of a province. Through the provincial capital, it is often the most intuitive to reflect the customs, cultural heritage, humanistic character and spiritual outlook of a province. These can only be cultivated and passed down from generation to generation through long-term historical accumulation, and cannot be evaluated simply by economic strength or development prospects.
Fuzhou is not the ancient capital of any unified dynasty, but it is as rich as the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. The long history has left Fuzhou with not only the vicissitudes of life, the bleak world, the attitude of survival, the feelings of literati and ink fragrance, but also the character of Fujian people who break the waves and bravely stand on the tide. These are precious heritages that Fuzhou has inherited so far.
This spiritual charm can benefit the Millennium, which is the most important reason why Fuzhou has been able to maintain its position.
Fuzhou is surrounded by mountains, and its advantage is that it is easy to defend but difficult to attack. Because of its geographical advantages, Fuzhou has an extra layer of military protection.
3. There are many mountainous areas in Fujian Province, and there are certain traffic problems in both Fuzhou and Xiamen. So there is no need to change the provincial capital, and it is appropriate to continue to use Fuzhou as the provincial capital.
