Ranking of Zisha Pot Masters:

I. Gu Jingzhou

Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996), formerly known as Jingzhou. Alias: Man Xi, thin Ping, Wuling escapee, Jingnan mountain woodcutter. Self-named pot old man, old Ping. Gu Jingzhou is recognized as the first ranking of famous Zisha pots, and is one of the seven contemporary Zisha veteran artists.

At the age of 18, he studied under a famous master, and in the late thirties he went to Shanghai to make pots to imitate antiques, and at the age of 54 he entered the Yixing Shushan Pottery Cooperative (the predecessor of the Zisha Crafts Factory), and in his life he participated in the National Congress of Arts and Crafts for three times.

In the whole of Southeast Asia, the influence is very great, known at home and abroad as the "pot art titan", many from the Gu Jingzhou Zisha pots have become the collection of major museums and cultural relics museums at home and abroad.

Two, Xu Xiutang

Xu Xiutang, born in December 1937 in Yixing Shushan alabaster pottery family, Chinese arts and crafts master. He is now the vice president of Wuxi Tea Culture Research Association, a visiting professor of Jiangnan University, and a visiting professor of Wuxi Craft Vocational and Technical College.

Award-winning works include "Sitting Eight Monsters" and "Xuezhou Learning Painting". The second in the ranking of famous Zisha pots is Xu Xiutang. In 1954, Xu Xiutang studied Zisha pottery carving under the famous old Zisha pottery carving artist Ren Guanting, and in 1955, he entered the Shushan Pottery Cooperative with his master.

Then Xu Xiutang began to learn color sculpture, only in 1959 began to engage in ceramic sculpture pottery creation, focusing on alabaster sculpture, study hard for many years and not in vain, Xu Xiutang's works have been exhibited at home and abroad and won awards, but also by the museums of many countries collection, become one of the most famous domestic.

Three, Lu Yaochen

Lu Yaochen, male, Han nationality, Yixing people, born in 1941, China's master of arts and crafts. Lv Yaochen has devoted himself to the art of Zisha potting for decades, studying under the master of potting, Wu Yungen, and then under the guidance of Zhu Kexin, Gu Jingzhou, and other famous masters, and was first known as "Lv Zhu", and then drew on the strengths of the others, boldly innovated, and formed "Lv's Potting" with distinctive characteristics.

Also created "Lv's stranded clay" technique, changing the original connotation and form of zisha pottery, known as the "pot magician", in the ranking of famous zisha pots in the third position.

Four, Wang Yixian

Wang Yixian (1943 - February 28, 2021), female, was born in Dingnan Village, Dingshan, Yixing, Jiangsu Province. Wang Yixian was admitted to the Yixing Zisha Craft Factory in 1956, and studied under Wu Yungen, Jiang Rong, Zhu Kexin, Pei Shimin, and other famous masters, before joining the factory's research institute in 1973 under the guidance of master Gu Jingzhou.

From 1976 to 1977, she studied at the "Training Course of Ceramic Art Design" organized by the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and in 1989, she was awarded the "National Model Worker" and the "National 38 Red Flag Woman". National thirty-eight red flag bearer" honorary title, in 2006 was named intangible cultural heritage inheritor, folk art culture outstanding inheritor.

Fifth, Xu Hantang

Xu Hantang, born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, on May 11, 1932, a master of Chinese Arts and Crafts, was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award of Chinese Arts and Crafts", and is the only one who has been awarded this honor in China's purple sand industry.

After graduating from junior high school in 1948, he followed his parents to learn the art, and in the early fifties, he studied under the contemporary master of alabaster, Mr. Gu Jingzhou, and was the first disciple of Mr. Gu. 1975-1976, he entered the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts for further study.

He is rich in artistic genius, solid foundation, good at copying traditional products, but also good at innovation, craft modeling ingenuity, to ice crack decoration, works like ice like jade, especially good at making all kinds of miniature pots, every handwriting, are called "hantang pots", for the Shanghai potted plant industry collection.
