Qiu Ju's Story Film Review
The Story of Autumn Chrysanthemum is a classic film shot by Zhang Yimou in his early days. This film has a strong realistic color, which is also the characteristic of Zhang Yimou's early works. The film stars Gong Li, and Gong Li plays Qiu Ju, an ordinary rural woman. Her husband clashed with the village head and was accidentally kicked by the village head. Qiu Ju wants justice for her man. Qiu Ju just wants a statement.
The film reflects that for ordinary people, there are still many problems in using legal rights protection, and the awareness of more people using legal rights protection is not strong enough. In fact, there are such problems now, just like the village head in the play.
The film has the characteristics of northern Shaanxi, which really reflects the life scenes of the people in northern Shaanxi at that time. It also truly depicts the simple and real life of the rural people in northern Shaanxi, including the costumes, language, living habits and cultural customs expressed in the play, which makes the audience feel as if they are in that simple countryside.
