If you want to build your own house in the countryside, how can the roof be economical and durable?

In people's impression, steel is obviously solid and stable, while wood is easy to burn and be eaten by insects. Then why do some people choose wood instead of steel for the roof? This problem is not difficult to understand, mainly for the following reasons. In our countryside, when people build new houses, they really don't use steel as roofs, but use wooden structures with purlins. But in fact, wood is not cheap at all, even much more expensive than steel. A Chinese fir rafter is at least 60 yuan here, which is obviously more expensive than galvanized pipe. Then why do people use expensive ones instead? I think there are several reasons.

Brick-wood structure is not a pure wood structure roof. The combination of brick and wood can generally meet the requirements of simple roof, such as double slope roof-we commonly call it herringbone slope roof, four slope roof, or four slope roof with simple shape. Although steel structures can also be made into cornices, Langfang and other shapes. However, it needs to be re-processed in the factory, and in rural self-built houses, such as wood structures, rural construction workers can splice different roof forms very conveniently and quickly. Houses are never just mud walls, and blue bricks and stones have become the surrounding walls. The roof is mainly made of wood, with vertical and horizontal structure, covered with grass felt made of thatch and covered with mud grass, which can rain and snow the house. It is also useful to cover the roof with green tiles with mud.

There are generally two kinds of roofs for self-built houses in rural areas, one is reinforced concrete, and the other is wooden ridged houses. Of course, there are some steel houses with light steel frames. The wooden roof has three layers of insulation, reed curtain, soil and tile. The steel structure only has colored steel tiles and a secondary cold-proof layer, so there is an extra layer of perlite. It's still worse than a wooden roof with reed curtains. I think wooden roofs are more expensive. Houses built by ourselves and steel roofs are all made of two layers of iron sheets with a thin layer of iron sheet or foam sandwiched between them, just like movable color steel houses, which are cheaper than wooden ones in terms of cost. But compared with this kind of iron roof, the wooden roof is stronger and has better heat insulation.
