Batik is an ancient traditional textile printing and dyeing handicraft of ethnic minorities in China, which was called wax in ancient times. Tie-dyeing and openwork printing are also called the three major printing technologies in ancient China. Guizhou, Yunnan Miao, Buyi and other nationalities are good at batik. Batik is to draw flowers on the cloth with a wax knife dipped in melted wax, and then dipped in indigo. When the wax is removed, the surface of the cloth presents various patterns of white flowers on a blue background or blue flowers on a white background. At the same time, in the dip dyeing, the wax as a resist naturally cracks, which makes the cloth surface show a special "ice grain", which is particularly eye-catching.
Embroidery is a general term for all kinds of decorative patterns embroidered on fabrics with needles and threads. There are two kinds of embroidery: silk embroidery and feather embroidery. It is a decorative fabric with embroidery marks by puncturing silk thread or other fibers and yarns on embroidery materials with certain patterns and colors with needles. According to legend, the "eight-tone sitting singing" of Buyi people in Guizhou originated in the Tang and Song Dynasties. There are no fixed lyrics, only more than 10 fixed music scores, most of which are Buyi fairy tales. "Eight-tone sitting singing" is called "Wanbodi" in Buyi language, which means playing and playing. The "Eight Tones" of "Eight Tone Sitting Singing" are now interpreted as eight musical instruments, namely: Xiao Tong, Niujiaohu, Huluqin, Yueqin, Drum, Gong and Chai. It is a folk rap art form deeply loved by Buyi people.
