When did the cockfighting game originate?
Cockfighting is a game to watch two or more chickens fight. Cockfighting started in Tomb-Sweeping Day and lasted until the summer solstice. Cockfighting game originated in Sui Dynasty and became more popular in Tang Dynasty. According to Du Taiqing's Collection of Jade Candles in the Sui Dynasty, there are many chicken-egg fights in the cold food festival cities. People spend a lot of money to buy healthy chickens, and they learn well, so they will come to power. When fighting cocks, people hang five-color curtains on the cage and open the cage at the back. Some chickens who dare to fight in the cold are allowed to drink and peck freely. If there are as many as three or four hundred chickens and they are not afraid of chickens, this chicken will be a shoo-in. The winning chickens made small balls with colored threads, wrapped around their necks and arms respectively, and entered the cage to welcome them back. The owner of the chicken gets not less than 120 gold pearls, emeralds and Luo Qi. This shows how spectacular the cockfighting scene is.
