1, Cantonese Opera

Cantonese opera originated in Foshan and is one of the traditional operas of the Han nationality. It is sung in Cantonese. Popular in the Pearl River Delta, western Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and southeastern Guangxi, it is also performed in overseas Cantonese-speaking Chinese communities.

Its origin can be traced back to the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. As the ancestors of Guangfu people came from different regions, the development of Cantonese opera was also influenced by Yiyang Opera, Kunqiang Opera, Han Opera, Huizhou Opera and Qinqiang Opera, and formed its own style.
