Which are the Four Great Bodhisattvas in Chinese Buddhism?
The Four Great Bodhisattvas in Chinese Buddhism are Manjushri, Guanyin, Pushyin, and Jizo, four bodhisattvas of great power.
1, Guanyin Bodhisattva
Guanyin Bodhisattva to great compassion for the original wish, to save suffering for the purpose. It is said in the sutra that the Guanyin is the most powerful in saving the end of the world. Compassion is to uproot the suffering of living beings. Of course, happiness must be bestowed on sentient beings in order for them to be free from suffering. Therefore, the Bodhisattva teaches us to have the spirit of love for the world, where there is suffering we should try to help, and that is the reason why Guanyin Bodhisattva is the most dedicated to saving our times.
2. Manjushri
Manjushri takes great wisdom as his original wish, and the sutra says: "Take the mind as a precept, and from the precepts comes meditation, and from the meditation comes wisdom. And Manjushri uses the Dharma of Pure Action as the Dharma of mindfulness. In the Dharma Door of Pure Practice, we are instructed to think of all living beings, so Manjushri teaches us to be selfless, to put the interests of the public first, and to be pure and untainted in order to benefit others, so that we can enter into samadhi and wisdom. All of them embody the Bodhisattva's wish for all sentient beings, and the non-returning heart of the Bodhisattva is even more incredible.
4. Jizo Bodhisattva
Jizo Bodhisattva covers the area between the yin and yang, leaving the darkness and suffering of the netherworld in the yin, and the suffering on earth in the yang. And he himself wishes to become a Buddha after he has finished all the living beings (there is a saying: "If the hell is not empty, he will not become a Buddha".) It is evident that there is no end to the desire to fulfill the wishes of all sentient beings. The Earth Store Bodhisattva witnesses the great suffering of the underworld, and urges us to do our utmost to avoid committing crimes and evils, to get rid of the suffering of the sea of suffering and to realize the happiness of Nirvana.
