What is the mirror of a car?

Car rearview mirrors are convex mirrors. Because convex mirrors have astigmatism, they are wider and safer than flat mirrors.

The rearview mirror is divided into external rearview mirror, lower rearview mirror and internal rearview mirror according to the installation position.

According to the purpose, the external rearview mirror reflects the rear side of the car, the lower rearview mirror reflects the front and lower side of the car, and the internal rearview mirror reflects the rear and interior of the car. For different purposes, the mirror structure will be different.

There are two main types of rearview mirrors. One is a plane mirror, which is flat as its name implies, and is represented by "the radius of curvature of a surface is infinite". This is the same as the general household mirror, which can get the same visual size image. This kind of flat mirror is often used as an interior rearview mirror. The other is a convex mirror, which is spherical and has different radii of curvature. Its image is smaller than that of visual inspection, but its field of view is large, just like the role of a camera "wide-angle mirror". This convex mirror is often used as an outer rearview mirror and a lower rearview mirror. Light passenger cars such as cars are generally equipped with exterior rearview mirrors and interior rearview mirrors, while large commercial vehicles (buses and trucks) are generally equipped with exterior rearview mirrors, lower rearview mirrors and interior rearview mirrors.
