The main characteristics of traditional movies

The so-called traditional film, of course, is not completely equivalent to drama film, and its basic characteristics can be roughly summarized as follows:

1. Follow the tradition, that is, the established movie rules accumulated over a long period of time;

2. The principle of film structure based on the conflict law of drama. Pay attention to the beginning, entanglement, development, climax, ending and other structural elements (for example, American literary theorist Lawson believes that the difference between film and drama lies in the free transformation of time and space, the parallel development of actions, and the camera approaching the characters. 3. Apply the principle of "montage theory";

4. The characters "good" and "evil" are clearly defined, and the positive characters and negative characters are strictly divided;

5. In the relationship with the audience, it is often the film author rather than the audience who makes ideological conclusions, leaving little room for the audience to think for themselves. After entering the modern film period, some parts of the traditional film concept have been impacted, but its reasonable core has been preserved and developed at a new height.
