English-Chinese traditional China drama
Known as "Oriental Opera", Beijing Opera is the true quintessence of China.
It originated from many ancient local dramas, especially Huiban in the south of China.
By the end of19th century, Peking Opera had developed into the greatest drama in China. Beijing opera combines performing arts-songs, speeches, performances, acrobatics, fighting and dancing.
Beijing opera depicts and narrates plots and characters through stylized performances. The main characters in Beijing Opera are Sheng (male), Dan (female), Jing (painted man) and Ugly (clown man or woman).
