Where does "new media" come from and what are its contents?

The term "new media" first appeared in the late 1990s, which refers to the media form spread by using new media such as the Internet, digital technology and computers. The contents of new media include but are not limited to:

1. Network media: including portals, search engines, social media, Weibo, WeChat, blogs, etc.

2. Mobile media: including mobile apps, mobile websites and mobile advertisements.

3. Digital media: including digital TV, digital music and digital publishing.

4. Interactive media: including virtual reality, augmented reality and games.

5. Big data media: including data mining, data analysis and data visualization.
