What's the difference between communication and journalism?

Journalism focuses on the business practice of news gathering, writing, editing and evaluation, specifically on the news gathering and operation of radio, television, newspapers, internet and other media; Communication has a wide range, which is closely combined with sociology, psychology, philosophy, economics and culturology. 1. The research scope is different. Journalism is dominated by traditional newspapers, with comments as the mainstay. The contents of communication science include anthropology, linguistics, semiotics, informatics, sociology and psychology, as well as advertising, news, film and television, marketing and foreign exchange. Communication science includes communication law, communication theory research, media development research, cross-cultural communication, advertising, art communication and other branches.

2. The employment direction is different. Journalism is mostly employed by traditional media, such as newspapers, magazines, radio and television. In addition, you can also work in the propaganda department of publishing houses, enterprises and institutions, and some people have obtained the teacher qualification certificate and become teachers of the school. Communication can be employed in traditional media, new media, advertising companies, media research companies, government departments and so on, with a wider range of choices.

3. The review points for the postgraduate entrance examination are different. Journalism is a humanities subject, and its core idea is fair and objective balance. The journalists trained should serve the society and the people, and their core courses are interview and writing, so they should learn more from them in the review process. Communication is a social science, a product of commercial society, and trains scholars or scholar-type journalists. Therefore, in the review process, we should distance ourselves from the traditional humanities, be closer to sociology, economics and political science, and read more European and American original works.
