What does it mean to ride an elephant?
In Thai culture, riding an elephant is also a long-standing tradition. Thai people think that elephants are a kind of god beast that can bring good luck and happiness, so they will use elephants to express their blessings and respect on important occasions. In addition, in the coronation ceremony of the king of Thailand, there is also an important link in which the elephant god is the protagonist, and the elephant god represents respect and worship in Thai culture.
However, as time goes by, not everyone supports the tradition of riding elephants. Some people think that excessive commercialization and tourism development have led to cruel treatment and abuse of elephants, resulting in a decrease in the number of elephants. Therefore, people began to call for treating elephants in a more humane way, saving them and protecting cultural heritage.
