From 65438 to 0997, Chaoyang was named as "the hometown of folk art (paper-cutting) in Guangdong Province" by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture. In 2006, Chaoyang paper-cutting was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage list.
Paper-cutting is one of the most popular traditional folk decorative arts in China. It is the first intangible cultural heritage project listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list and the essence of China culture.
