How is ethanol distilled with low water content?
There are ways to reduce moisture content.
1. Traditional distillation method: For ethanol with high moisture content, traditional distillation method is used for dehydration. However, the distillation method has the disadvantages of cumbersome operation process and high cost.
2. Molecular sieve adsorption method: Molecular sieve is a kind of polymer crystal. Under certain conditions, molecular sieve can adsorb water molecules into the crystal pores, thereby achieving dehydration.
This method has high space utilization and low preparation cost.
3. Membrane separation technology: Use a special membrane to separate ethanol and water molecules to achieve dehydration.
This method can be automated and does not require distillation again, while membrane separation technology can combine dehydration and concentration into one.
Ethanol is a common alcoholic organic compound widely used in medicine, food, chemical industry and other fields.
