The troupe has long insisted on performing in grassroots, rural areas, military units and frontier areas, and its footprints are all over Yunnan. It has been rated as the province's advanced theatrical troupe for years, and awarded the 1992-2002 special contribution award by Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture (the only one in the province). The troupe has participated in many national and provincial major performances and performed three times in Huairentang, Zhongnanhai. He was cordially received by party and state leaders Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi. It has been widely welcomed in all provinces of the country and has hosted performances for visiting foreign heads of state many times.
