Does ligation hurt?

Most men who undergo the procedure experience only mild soreness or swelling of the scrotum afterward. However, there is some risk of hematoma, infection or chronic pain. Post-vasectomy pain syndrome (Post-vasectomy

pain

syndrome) is a relatively rare postoperative complication that affects men who undergo the procedure. Due to the problem of low survey response rates, the incidence of this complication has been reported to vary considerably in different studies (data ranging from 0.1% to more than 10% have been reported), and it is difficult to determine its exact incidence at this time. Vasectomy has no significant effect on long-term health, and although there have been concerns that ligation increases the risk of testicular and prostate cancer, none of the current large-scale studies have confirmed their association.
