What is the difference between fiber optic broadband and ordinary broadband?
Ordinary broadband is generally made of copper telephone lines, but when telephone lines are used to transmit network signals, the speed is very slow. In comparison, optical fiber transmits signals much faster. The advantages of optical fiber communication are:
1. Large capacity.
2. Small attenuation.
3. Fast and stable.
4. Small size and light weight. Convenient for construction and transportation.
5. Good anti-interference performance. Optical fibers are not subject to strong current interference, electrified railway interference, and lightning interference. They are also highly resistant to electromagnetic pulses and have good confidentiality.
6. Save non-ferrous metals. (General communication cables consume a large amount of non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum or lead)
7. Low cost. Optical fiber communications were first used in fiber optic relay lines between local telephone offices, and then were widely used in long-distance trunk networks, becoming the basis of broadband communications. Ordinary broadband does not have these.
