"The World's Largest Handmade Book" was created in 2010 by a father and son, BelaVarga and GáborVarga, who are said to be masters of the traditional papermaking techniques of the region. The handmade book weighs about 2,800 pounds, and the material used for the cover is cowhide, made from the leather of 13 Argentine cows.
The father and son used ancient binding techniques to create the world's largest handmade book, adjusting its size to make it look much larger than an ordinary book, which is now collected in a famous paper factory, which also serves as a place for the father and son to give people from all over the world to visit to show them their papermaking skills.
How the world's largest handmade book was made
Making the giant book was a daunting task. The book's five hinges are laser-cut, the paper is imported from an Austrian paper mill, and the printing is done on large industrial printers used to create billboard advertisements. It was then moved to the paper mill by an industrial crane.
It takes six people to turn just one of the huge pages to avoid accidental tearing. The handmade book is 418 centimeters by 377 centimeters, weighs 2,800 pounds, and has 346 pages a ****, which are printed with knowledge about the plants associated with the site.
