Traditional Wushu routines are jingles.

Eight methods of Wushu:

Hands, eyes, posture, steps, spirit, qi, strength and work. Because hands, eyes, posture and steps are explicit, they are called external four methods; Spirit, qi, strength and work are all internal strengths, so they are called internal four methods. The external four methods show the "shape" of Wushu, while the internal four methods show the "spirit" of Wushu. The integration of inside and outside embodies the characteristics of Wushu, which is "both form and spirit, showing the spirit with form and leading the shape with spirit".

Eight boxing styles are: fist is like a meteor eye, waist is like a snake; Essence (spirit) should be full of energy and massiness, and strength should be smooth and pure.
