Indra festival events throughout the years

The Elephant Trunk God, a mount of Lord Indra, appears at Durbar Square on September 18, 2013 in Kathmandu. The day was the busiest day of the Indra Festival, a traditional festival in Nepal that lasts for eight days, with masked dances and other performances in Kathmandu's Durbar Square, the elephant trunk god and other gods appearing for the world to worship, the living goddess Kumari riding in a "chariot" on the Kathmandu parade, and the President of Nepal, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries, as well as diplomats of various countries in Nepal gathered at the palace to watch the parade and the Kumari procession. Apart from Kumari, another rare sighting is the white idol of Seto Bhairav in Durbar Square. The idol is usually covered with a wooden window, which is only opened during the festival of Indra. At this time, people come and compete to take the liquor (which is pre-infused) that flows from the idol's mouth and is said to bring good luck throughout the year.
