What are the common rocket propellants?
There are two kinds of commonly used rocket propellants: solid and liquid.
1, solid propellant: composed of double-base propellant and composite propellant.
Double base propellant is mainly composed of nitrocellulose and nitrate plasticizer.
Composite propellant is mainly composed of polyurethane, polysulfide rubber, polybutadiene, ammonium nitrate, ammonium perchlorate and other oxidants.
2. Liquid propellant: composed of combustible agent and oxidant.
Combustible agents are mostly liquid hydrogen, hydrazine, amine, borane and petroleum products.
Oxidants are mostly liquid oxygen, liquid fluorine, hydrogen peroxide, fuming nitric acid, dinitrogen tetroxide, tetranitromethane, etc.
