Qing Dynasty Tongzhi Blue and White Porcelain Decoration

At this time, in addition to the traditional dragons and phoenixes, cloud cranes, true phoenixes, tied flowers and branches, Yuanyang in the lotus pond, the Eight Immortals, baby plays, ladies, mountains and rivers, and Bo Gu, there are many auspicious meanings, such as abundant grains, being blessed by the top scholar, being blessed by mountains and seas, being sent away by Kirin, having a long life without limit, and having more than one year.

Official kilns include Yunlong, Yunfeng, Solanum nigrum, Twisted Lotus, Hooked Lotus, Broken Chrysanthemum, Bamboo Stone, Banana Leaf, Grape, Broken Fruit, Bagua Yunhe, Bo Gu Map, Ladies, Sanskrit, Shouzi, Flowers and Birds, Meizhu, Matsuzaka Plum, etc.

Most of them are meticulous paintings with clear patterns, but they lack a sense of hierarchy. Some pictures are too monotonous, emphasizing auspicious patterns, reflecting the decorative style of late Qing porcelain.

Folk kilns include dragons and phoenixes, cloud cranes, landscape figures, baby plays, flowers and birds, lion balls and so on. At this time, there was a pattern painting, which was vulgar, irregular, rough, dull and lifeless. Painters also have fine works, but they are not as good as those in the early Qing Dynasty.
