Introduction of Longjia Courtyard

Longjia Courtyard is a traditional folk house of Han nationality which embodies the architectural style of Ming Dynasty. It is located in Heiaoling Village, Shantou Town, Xintian County, Hunan Province, with a distance of 14 km from the county seat. Because of the dragon surname in the village, it is called Longjia Courtyard. Villagers are descendants of Long Gaobo, the prefect of Lingling in the early Eastern Han Dynasty. They moved here from Lingling during the Yuanfeng period in Song Shenzong, with a history of more than 930 years. Longjia Courtyard is the most distinctive brick-wood building complex in Yongzhou in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Ancient villagers' houses and ancient cultural sites have been well preserved so far. These houses and historical sites are located in a treasure trove of geomantic omen, with ingenious design, excellent production, extraordinary bearing and endless charm, which embodies the wisdom and superb architectural skills of the ancient Han working people. 1 The compound is located halfway up Daguanling. The whole compound is located halfway up the mountain, facing southwest to northeast. There is an old castle site one kilometer away from the back hill. The Long family moved here until the Ming Dynasty. At present, there are 48 buildings with typical cultural characteristics of Han nationality in southern Hunan, all of which are blue brick drywall, small blue tiles, hard hilltops with wind and fire walls, pavilions, exquisite wood carvings, colorful paintings and dignified and simple screen walls. "Poetry is passed down from generation to generation, regardless of anything but farming and mulberry." There are 128 couplets in Longjia Courtyard, which all reflect farming culture and seclusion thought. It also inherited the dragon's sincere, cautious, modest and thrifty character. Couplets are not only beautifully written, but also have different fonts. Tourists call Longjia Courtyard "a century-old quadrangle, a legacy of the satrap, a paradise and beautiful countryside".
