What are the traditional dances in Germany?
Most German folk dances have a history of less than 200 years, and they are largely evolved from waltz and Polka. The older folk dance is a round dance that combines early Christian worship activities and chain dances all over Europe. In medieval Germany, with the development of handicraft guild activities, some dance forms with distinctive professional characteristics appeared. For example, barrel-makers in Munich hold a ceremony every seven years and perform pole dancing. This dance has seven traditional patterns (see country dance): scaffolding, snake, cross, corolla, small circle, procession and rotation in a circle.
