Founder of Everbright Bank?

The founder of Shanghai Everbright Bank was Wang Guangmei, one of the founders of the Everbright Group.

Wang Guangying, (1919 - 2018) born, a native of Beijing, a member of the DAB, graduated from the Chemistry Department of Fu Jen University in Beiping, with a university education. Vice Chairman of the Sixth and Seventh National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress.

On October 29, 2018, Elder Wang Guangying passed away in Beijing at the age of 100 years.

Biography

Studied at the Chemistry Department of Fu Jen University in Beiping from 1938 to 1942.

From 1942 to 1943, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry of Fu Jen University in Beiping.

From 1949 to 1956, he was the director of Tianjin Modern Chemical Factory (public-private partnership in 1954), the director of Tianjin Lisheng Knitting Factory, and the secretary-general of Tianjin Federation of Industry and Commerce.

From 1956 to 1980, he was the manager of Tianjin Knitwear Weaving Company, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Tianjin Federation of Industry and Commerce, vice-chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, vice-chairman of the Tianjin Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Democratic Construction Association of China (DAB), member of the Board of Directors of the Hebei Provincial Committee, and member of the Board of Directors of the Tianjin Municipal Committee.

After 1980, he became vice chairman and general manager of Tianjin International Trust and Investment Company, vice mayor of Tianjin, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the DAB in the third session, and member of the Tianjin Municipal Committee.

Established Everbright Corporation in 1983, and served as chairman and general manager of China Everbright (Group) Limited, Everbright Industrial Corporation, honorary chairman, director of China International Trust and Investment Corporation, honorary chairman and chairman of China Peking Opera Art Foundation, vice-chairman of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of the Fifth All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.

He was awarded the Order of the Crown by the King of Belgium in Hong Kong in 1986, and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Maryland in the same year.

Elected Vice Chairman of the Seventh National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in April 1988 and Vice Chairman of the Sixth Executive Committee of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) in December.

Left Everbright in 1989.

Elected Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Eighth National People's Congress in March 1993. elected Honorary Chairman of the Seventh Executive Committee of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce in October.

In March 1998, he became Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress.

In July 1999, he was elected Chairman of the Sixth China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification.
