What is a torch called
A torch, also called a torch, is a tool used to illuminate and transmit fire. It was generally made of a wooden stick with a flammable object (such as a rag soaked in grease or pitch) tied to one end. It can be inserted into a shelf on the wall when used inside a building, or hand-held when used in the field. Traditionally the torch symbolizes light, enlightenment, and as a sacred symbol, fire dates back to prehistoric times. Fire represents creation, regeneration and light in Greek history.
Origin of the Torch:
During the rituals at the sacred site of Olympia, there were also sprinting competitions. The athlete was the winner when he first took the torch from the priest and lit the sacred fire on the altar in front of Prometheus, the god of fire. He will also be honored as a hero. The Torch Relay, which takes place in the Games, began at the 11th Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany. At that time, German long-distance runners went to Olympia, Greece, to light the torch, and then one by one to pass the torch to the Berlin stadium.
