What festival is Ghost Festival?

Ghost Festival:

1, Mid-Autumn Festival

The 15th day of the seventh lunar month is the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival in China, also known as Ghost Festival, or July 30. In the traditional folk concept, the seventh month of the lunar calendar is mysterious and dark, and the gates of hell are wide open. All ghosts come from the underworld to visit relatives and friends, or beg for sacrifices, and don't come back until the end of July.

As a taboo, people rarely choose to hold a wedding, move or opening ceremony in July. And the peak of this "ghost moon" is undoubtedly "July and a half", which is also commonly known as "Mid-Autumn Festival".

2. Tomb-Sweeping Day

April 4th, 5th or 6th every year is the Tomb-Sweeping Day of China. Tomb-Sweeping Day, also known as "Ghost Festival", is different from the Mid-Yuan Festival in that the sacrificial objects are different.

The dead in Tomb-Sweeping Day are their ancestors and relatives. The Mid-Autumn Festival is mainly about offering sacrifices to wandering ghosts, burning paper and lighting river lanterns by the river. So as to reverse the case for these deceased people who have no commemorative significance. Tomb-Sweeping Day is one of the important traditional festivals in China. It is not only a festival for people to pay homage to their ancestors and cherish the memory of martyrs, but also a link for the Chinese nation to recognize their ancestors and return to their ancestors.

3, ancestor worship festival

Every year, the first day of the 10th lunar month is the "ancestor worship festival" in China, which is called the three "ghost festivals" in a year together with Tomb-Sweeping Day and Zhongyuan festivals. In order to prevent their ancestors from catching cold in the underworld, on this day, people will burn five-color paper, give them warm clothes and give them a ghost to keep out the cold, so this day is also called "Cold Clothes Festival".

At the same time, this day also marks the arrival of severe winter, so it is also a day for parents and lovers to send warm clothes to people they care about.
