Classification of swimming strokes:
breaststroke
Breaststroke is a swimming posture that uses both arms and legs. The arm stretches out from the front of the water, then paddles to both sides and returns to the chest, forming a semi-circular path.
Frogs kick their legs, bend their legs and spread them out, then quickly close them and push them back. The breathing action of breaststroke occurs when the arm completes each stroke, the head is raised, and the breathing nose and mouth are above the water.
backstroke
Backstroke is a swimming posture with the back down and the sky facing. The arms take turns paddling, one arm paddling backwards from the head, and the other arm paddling backwards and forwards under the water. Kick your legs alternately, similar to freestyle leg movements. Breathing in backstroke is relatively easy because the face is always on the water.
Freestyle (freestyle)
Freestyle usually refers to crawl, which is the fastest and most efficient stroke. In freestyle, swimmers take turns paddling, with one arm paddling from front to back on the water and the other arm paddling from back to front under the water.
Kick your legs alternately and swing up and down quickly. When breathing, turn your head to one side to expose your nose, so that breathing and arm movements can be coordinated.
butterfly stroke
Butterfly stroke is a swimming stroke that is promoted by wave-like body movements and the synchronous cooperation of hands and legs. Hands forward at the same time under water, then stroke backwards and finally return to the front.
Legs together for butterfly kick, feet swinging up and down like fishtails. The breathing action of butterfly stroke takes place in the front of arm stroke, with the head raised forward and the nose and mouth above the water.
The Origin and Development of Breaststroke
As the oldest swimming stroke, the exact origin of breaststroke is difficult to determine. However, some clues can be found in ancient documents and pictures of different civilizations.
Ancient Egypt: In some murals in ancient Egypt, we can see swimmers using strokes and kicks similar to breaststroke. This shows that breaststroke existed in ancient Egyptian civilization.
Ancient Greece: Ancient Greek literature recorded a kind of "π ρ? χειρο? The stroke of "procheiros" means "in the hand". The description of this swimming posture is similar to that of modern breaststroke, which shows that ancient Greek swimmers also mastered the swimming posture similar to breaststroke.
Japan: A traditional Japanese swimming style, breaststroke, is thought to have originated in heian period, Japan (794- 1 185). Breaststroke was widely used in the training of ancient Japanese samurai to enhance their physical strength and combat effectiveness.
