Why is the traditional residence of Li nationality in Hainan called boat-shaped hut?

Boat-shaped house can also be called "boat-shaped hut", which is called "Bu Long Ting Pole" or "Bu Long Gou Luan" in Li language. It is a traditional residence of Li nationality in Hainan. The residential form is like a ship lying on the ground. Although there are many changes in structure and decoration, the overall style remains unchanged. How did this form of living come about?

According to legend, in a faraway place, there was an emperor whose daughter Princess Qingqing fell in love with the young Red. Unfortunately, Honghong's occupation was sweeping the floor in the palace, which caused the emperor's anger. After many difficulties, she couldn't separate the two lovers, so she drove them out of the palace together. According to the emperor's will, the guards put Princess Qingqing and Honghong on a small wooden boat, and the wooden boat gradually drifted south to Hainan Island. Seeing the beautiful scenery on the island, Qingqing and Honghong lived here and had children. They became the ancestors of the Li people. Because they came by boat, in order to commemorate them, future generations have been living in a boat-shaped house made of branches and thatch, and there has been no change since then. Entering the Li village, the boat-shaped houses are arranged in an orderly and unique way.
