Educational Philosophy of Fuxi Class

Professor Wu said the educational philosophy of Fuxi class is: "Teach human ethics, obey human nature, and benefit for a lifetime."

To teach human ethics is to teach filial piety, fraternal duty, loyalty, propriety, justice, honesty and shame, which is the difference between humans and animals. Only by distinguishing humans from non-humans can human society be harmonized. Since the traditional Chinese cultural concepts have been destroyed, all kinds of chutzpah have prevailed, polluting the whole social atmosphere and causing many things to appear in Chinese society that have never existed in history, which are unimaginable and cannot be described in human language. Prof. Wu said that these social problems can not only rely on legal sanctions, but also to educate children from childhood filial piety, fraternal duty, loyalty, propriety, righteousness, honesty and shame, to build up this moral brick wall again.

The second is to follow the human nature, which means that the teaching arrangement should be in line with the law of human physiological growth.

Prof. Wu said that the ancients divided education into four stages, one is 0 to 3 years old, called "Yi" nourishing nature, this is the stage of the formation of nature, including language, diet, personality. This is the stage of nature formation, which includes language, diet and personality. In this stage, we have to "nourish" the child, so that the child can be happy and joyful without being pampered. If the child is not able to be happy during this period of time, it will definitely plant a seed of perversion and hatred, and will grow up to have a strange character.

The second stage is called the child's education, which refers to the 10 years from the age of 3 to 13 years old. This stage of the child is characterized by a good memory and a weak understanding. How do you raise a child? It is called the "embodied" cultivation of righteousness, and this "embodied" is the collection. Over the past hundred years of education has made two big mistakes, one is to emphasize understanding at this stage, but not emphasize the "collection"; the second is the lack of righteousness, the input to the child lack of nutrition.

The third stage is the adolescent stage after the age of 13, which is called the adolescent cultivation. This stage of the child is characterized by the gradual opening of knowledge, remembering the gradual disappearance of the aptitude of the development, the reverence for the model, the enlightenment of the turn strong. At this stage, special attention should be paid to setting up role models for children. To set an example means to clearly advocate "truth, goodness, and beauty" and to clearly oppose "falsehood, evil, and ugliness". This includes role models at home (mainly parents), role models in the community, and role models in skills (skills or arts that the child wants to learn). And what are the role models of modern teenagers? Stars, ballplayers, rich people - more material aggrandizement and self-satisfaction, and a lack of greatness of character, honorable dedication, and proper values. If a nation does not know how to honor its heroes, it will degenerate into an irredeemable mass of creatures! And the degradation of character will certainly be reflected in the living environment - the food you eat is toxic, the water you drink is toxic, the air you breathe is toxic ......

The first three are to nourish the nature, to nourish the correctness, to nourish the will, and the fourth is to nourish the virtue in adulthood. Before adulthood, our education should be in line with the laws of the age stage, otherwise how much effort, the effect will not be great, called hard work and hard to achieve. For example, from the age of three to thirteen years old, the time to cultivate righteousness is the time to memorize, not before the age of thirteen years old, but after this time to memorize, diligence and suffering, but difficult to achieve. When you don't set an example when you come to the stage of cultivating one's will, it will be very difficult for you to change him when he already has an incorrect example! The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that you have a good understanding of what you are doing, and that you have a good understanding of what you are doing.

After describing the four stages of education, Prof. Wu suggests that we need to follow the laws of human nature to create a curriculum and plan the content of learning in order to benefit the children throughout their lives. On the contrary, if our curriculum does not conform to the laws and the learning content is unhelpful, it will not only victimize the children throughout their lives, but also harm the country and the nation.
