What is CDN server

The full name of CDN is Content Delivery Network, i.e., Content Delivery Network. CDN is a content delivery network built on top of the network, relying on edge servers deployed around the world, and through the load balancing, content distribution, scheduling, and other functional modules of the central platform, it enables the users to get the content they need in the near vicinity, reduces the congestion of the network, and improves the user access, response speed and hit rate. The key technologies of CDN are content storage and distribution technologies.

Expanded:

Functional entities included in a CDN network include content caching devices, content switches, content routers, CDN content management systems, and other components. The content cache is a CDN network node located at the user access point, and is a content provisioning device for end-users. It can cache static Web content and streaming media content, and realize the edge dissemination and storage of content so that users can access it nearby. The content switch is located at the centralized point of user access and can balance the load of multiple content caching devices at a single point and perform cache load balancing and access control on the content.
