Treatment modalities for pulmonary alveoli
The vast majority of alveolar surgeries can now be done under television thoracoscopy (VATS). Large alveoli should be resected at the normal lung tissue at the base of the alveolus in order to remove the alveolus completely; smaller alveoli or alveoli close to the hilum that are difficult to remove completely can be ligated, sutured or electrocoagulated cauterized, etc.; alveolus located in the deep lung tissue can be left untreated unless it is huge or combined with infection. In patients with alveoli combined with recurrent pneumothorax, pleural fixation is recommended at the same time, with a view to creating adhesions in the pleural cavity and preventing recurrence of pneumothorax. The methods of pleural fixation include wall pleural friction fixation, wall pleurodesis fixation and chemical fixation.
