What are the questions in College English Test Band 4 from June 5438 to February 2006?

65438+College English Test Band 4 in February 2006

In June this year, the national 180 pilot colleges and universities implemented the CET-4 reform. It is said that the reform plan of CET-4 from 65438 to February 2006 will be pushed across the country. Now candidates are very concerned about the new test questions in the pilot colleges. The reporter interviewed Mr. Xie, the chief expert of CET-4 and CET-6 counseling group.

Reporter: What do you think is the biggest change in this year's CET-4 compared with previous years?

Xu: I think the CET-4 in 180 pilot colleges has both inheritance and development. When it comes to inheritance, the main body of the test paper remains basically the same, and listening, reading and writing are the main areas of examination. Writing is still the usual way of describing phenomena and discussing advantages and disadvantages. As for development, we have seen great changes in the examination process. Writing is the last item, and now it is adjusted to the first item, followed by fast reading. This is the first test paper. It takes 45 minutes, which is a subjective question. After completion, the exam will enter the second stage, that is, the second paper. The second test paper includes subjective dictation, word filling and translation, but objective questions account for a large proportion.

Reporter: Every time there is a big change in the examination reform, candidates need to adapt quickly. Can you be more specific?

X: OK. Say composition, reading and translation first.

The first point of the composition requires everyone to make a basic description of the phenomenon that students choose teachers. The second syllabus requires candidates to write down the main reasons why students choose certain teachers. It belongs to the career routine. The third syllabus requires candidates to write about the advantages and possible problems of choosing teachers. A description of the advantages and disadvantages of a problem or phenomenon. We both need to talk. Generally speaking, it belongs to phenomenon description+problem description. This new CET-4 composition still follows the old idea of composition proposition, or focuses on students and campus topics.

The length of the material selected for speed reading is about 850 words, which is shorter than the length of the article provided by the sample paper (about 1200), and it is estimated that the future length should be about 1000 words; In addition, the sample paper has a subtitle, but this paper has no subtitle. It is expected that both of these situations may happen in the future. This question examines the ability of candidates to skim scanning, but from the 10 question in this year's paper, the scanning ability is more important, because it is aimed at the details of specific information.

Reading comprehension has been reduced from the original four to two, and the material selection and questions are the same as before. The length of the article is similar, with 8 detailed questions and 65 semantic questions, which is extremely difficult.

Although translation only accounts for 5%, candidates should strive for every point. Usually, we should pay attention to accumulating and training the translation training of common sentence patterns and phrases, and get full marks.

Reporter: What about the vocabulary test? What are the new changes? According to your experience, how should candidates respond?

Xie: This year's CET-4 has a new question type, which is to fill in the blanks with words instead of traditional vocabulary questions. It mainly examines the students' mastery of the text, the logical relationship of the context, the sensitivity to the part of speech of words, and good grammatical ability. Among the 15 words provided, there are 6 nouns, 3 verbs, 3 adjectives, 2 adverbs and 1 do respectively, and the answers are: 4 nouns, 2 verbs, 2 adjectives, 1 adverbs and 1 do respectively. The more difficult topics are 49, 53 and 55. Among them, 49 questions lack necessary hints and need to be done according to common sense.

As for cloze, the difficulty is moderate, which embodies two characteristics: (1) The common test points of vocabulary single choice are transferred to cloze. In this cloze question, the examination skills and test sites of many questions are very similar to the previous vocabulary questions, such as assure/assure; of 69 questions; ; Effect/influence of 72 questions; ; There are 75 questions such as removal/cancellation. It is suggested that candidates should pay attention to the vocabulary questions in previous years when preparing for the new cloze project; (2) Fixed collocation is still an important test center. This time, a considerable number of phrases and fixed collocations are set, such as 67 questions: waiting for sb. Do sth. 70 questions: pass, 77 questions: equipment, 78 questions: and, 79 questions: for the purpose of …. Candidates need to master and accumulate commonly used collocations in peacetime, so that even in the formal examination, the contextual meaning or logical understanding of the article is not very clear.

Reporter: Listening is an obstacle for many people. Especially long dialogues and compound word dictation are more difficult.

X: Generally speaking, listening involves a large number of questions, a long time and a wide range of topics, involving daily conversation, job interview, major selection, food culture, hobbies, funeral, sports and so on. It is difficult for candidates to keep their attention within 35 minutes and use appropriate listening strategies.

Short dialogue: the setting of test sites and the length of the dialogue all follow the old questions. Articles: There are still three articles, but the question is still 10, and the proposition ideas and test center settings are the same as before. However, there are two new paragraphs in the long dialogue. The first round has nine rounds, and the second round has six rounds, involving interviews and major selection respectively. Candidates usually need a lot of training to deal with this problem.

Compound dictation appeared as a substitute for short essays in previous exams, but both will inevitably appear after the reform, which is undoubtedly a great challenge for candidates. From its own form and test center setting, it has not changed much from the past. The eight words in this exam are all basic words, and candidates are familiar with them. The biggest obstacle is that they can't spell them correctly. The sentence is still three sentences, the length and difficulty are similar to those in the past, and there is no obvious jump. The first sentence involves an attributive clause, and the second and third sentences examine students' mastery of the passive voice. Sentence structure and vocabulary are not too difficult and biased. The biggest problem for candidates: (1) lack of basic listening ability. (2) The spelling ability of words is not enough. If you can't hear clearly, you can't write it, and the score is extremely strict. (3) Shorthand ability needs to be improved.

Reporter: It seems to be a habit to publish two books with accurate answers to real questions every year. After the examination reform, is it necessary to look at the real questions in the past?

Xu: As I said before, the four-level reform is not a total negation, but a development through inheritance. Of course, the real questions should be viewed selectively and according to the requirements of the new questions. Because of the changes in test papers and the emergence of new types of questions, the real problem analysis book I published in August this year has also been greatly adjusted accordingly. It can be said that it is an integrated version of the real question according to the new question type, and a small number of predictive questions that meet the requirements of the new question type are added. I think that for some contents, we should still use the real questions in the past as a reference for review. For new questions such as fast reading, long dialogue and fill in the blanks, the focus of review is on simulation questions.

Do the real questions carefully, complete the test paper within the specified time, and don't look over the answers easily. Be good at thinking, draw inferences from others and find something regular. Problems emerge one after another, and efficiency can be improved by analogy. We should cherish the role of real questions, and even if we make mistakes, we should find out the reasons for our mistakes. Find out the weak links of your knowledge and consolidate and improve it in time. It is another realm to study the thinking and skills of solving problems through real questions, improve the ability and level of analyzing problems and grasp the mind of the proposer.
